Chris Kennedy is a jazz pianist and singer based in Canterbury, Kent, performing at weddings, private parties, dinner receptions and corporate functions across the UK. With over two decades of experience, he has become one of the most sought-after solo jazz pianists in the South East.
He studied piano to Grade VIII before completing an undergraduate degree in music and a Masters degree in composition. Since university, he has specialised in swing and traditional jazz — performing several times a week at venues ranging from five-star hotels and historic palaces to boutique restaurants and private residences. His credits include Claridge's, The Savoy, Blenheim Palace, Hotel Café Royal, Lambeth Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Hampton Court Palace and Canterbury Cathedral.
Chris tailors his performance to the tone of your event — whether that means understated background music for a drinks reception, or livelier jazz and swing for a dinner dance. He reads the room effortlessly and adapts as the evening unfolds.

How I Perform
Instrumental jazz and classical pieces. Elegant and unobtrusive — ideal as a backdrop for drinks receptions and wedding breakfasts.
Songs performed with live vocals. A more engaging and personal experience — great for dinners where guests want to enjoy the music as well as conversation.
Piano, double bass and drums — a fuller, richer sound for larger events. Ideal for evening receptions and dinner dances up to 200 capacity.

Equipment
If your venue does not have a piano, Chris brings a high-quality electric piano. He also has a professional PA system capable of filling venues up to 200 capacity.
Rates & Availability
A standard booking includes two 60-minute sets and all equipment. Travel within 20 miles of Canterbury is included at no extra charge — beyond that, a modest travel supplement applies.
